Proposal for urban renewal in the inner city of Beijing. A mixed use development comprising mainly housing with retail, restaurants, sports and culture.
Thorough exploration of the city’s data and its explosive development in politics and economics led to the development of a high density residential city block. The structure daringly intervenes in the traditional morphology of the generic neighborhood, but also respects the identity of the city and its inhabitants.
The design is based on the chinese conception of the city and contains contemporary references to vernacular architecture.
