Bandra Colony Masterplan involves the transformation of a 100 acres site from a low density government colony into a high density development that rehabilitates the current government colony on site as well as creates space for a high standard diplomatic enclave.
The development is located in the district of Bandra along the expressway that connects downtown Mumbai to its northern districts and the airport.
Central to the redevelopment strategy is the valuation of existing networks of mature trees which we proposed to retain and enhance. Protecting and planting the trees first, before construction of buildings, will have a great impact on the quality of life on the site throughout its makeover. Maintaining existing infrastructure provides opportunities to phase the redevelopment of the site gradually which enables current inhabitants to move directly into their new home avoiding the need for temporary accommodation.
